Climbing Books And Climbing Equipment
When you first start rock climbing outdoors you can be sure that you will be able to borrow gear from a friend or a climbing club. As a beginner, there is no point in shelling out on a lot of equipment until you are sure of the type of climbing you are going to be doing. As you progress, then you can start to buy. So what do you need? My first recommendation would be to research rock climbing books. A good climbing book can give you the advice you need regarding the kinds of routes you plan to climb. They will let you know what sort of ropes you need, how many quickdraws you are likely to require, whether your climbing shoes will be up to the task, etc.
Once your climbing book has told you what equipment you’ll need for the routes you’ll be climbing, then by all means buy the gear. This could consist of ropes, quickdraws, shoes, as well as belaying equipment and helmets. Do make sure you are fully kitted out for every eventuality whilst climbing.
